Today is officially the start of the United Nations’ COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

After events in Egypt and UAE, COP 29 in Azerbaijan marks the third year in a row that the world’s most vital climate talks have been hosted by petrostates whose primary interest in decarbonization arguably is in stopping it.

But that won’t deter us from urging negotiators to make clear plans to phase out fossil fuels and transition to clean energy as quickly as possible.
