News

Overview: Most news outlets have called the presidential and Senate races, for Republican Donald Trump and for the GOP respectively. The House of Representatives has not been called yet, as several seats are still without a clear winner. Votes are still being counted.

Going forward, the CCUSA Government Relations team will continue to work with the incoming administration and the 119th Congress, especially on behalf of the poorest and most vulnerable people in our country. Our mission remains the same: to provide service to people, families, and communities in need; to advocate for justice in social structures; and to call the entire church and other people of good will to do the same.

Economy: In the week ending November 2, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims ([link removed]) was 221,000, an increase of 3,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's average was revised up by 500 from 236,500 to 237,000.
