Old wheelie bins discarded by UK householders may be funding organised crime and contributing to environmental injustice and human rights violations around the globe. In the new report, Dirty Deals — Part One, we revealed startling evidence of how regulatory weaknesses, legal loopholes and outdated practices in the global plastic waste trade are being exploited in the UK, fuelling a thriving illegal market. We also took a look at India's plastic waste EPR system and found that fraud is prevalent.

** Rogue emissions jeopardise climate targets ([link removed])

Vital climate targets are being put at risk by huge emissions of the potent greenhouse gas HFC-23. Ahead of a meeting of the Montreal Protocol, we warned that lax monitoring and reporting allows the fluorochemical industry’s harm to continue unchecked.
