** Voter Guide underway and sign up today to canvass or leaflet for pro-life candidates!
------------------------------------------------------------

With confirmation that the General Election will take place on Friday, 29th November, it’s critically important that the pro-life vote is properly mobilised so solid pro-life TDs are elected. In the outgoing Dáil, there are many good pro-life TDs standing for re-election. However, we are also losing some pro-life TDs who are retiring from politics, such as Éamon Ó Cuív (Fianna Fáil, Galway West) and Peter Fitzpatrick (Independent, Louth). Not only do we need to make up the difference, but we need to make gains too. With the general election campaign formally beginning, we are encouraging everyone to sign up to canvass for pro-life candidates in your area. Please consider signing up to canvass today and one our team will be in touch!.

To aid pro-life voters during the campaign, we have been working tirelessly on our Pro Life Campaign Voter Guide. This will break down all the candidates in every constituency based on their views on the life issue, with a grading assigned to each candidate. To ensure the guide is as comprehensive and reliable as possible, we are looking for your assistance in gathering additional information on candidates' positions. We would be very grateful if you would take the time to send us any information you have on election candidates in your constituency regarding their stance on right-to-life issues.

** Pro Life Campaign goes viral with over 12 million views on X!
------------------------------------------------------------

A story from last week’s Vital Signs responding to Cillian Murphy’s ill-judged remarks which caricatured Ireland in the 1980s as a “dark age” due to the absence of abortion has gone viral on social media. The PLC post on X has now been seen by 12 million people, has been retweeted over 825 times and received over 1,300 likes!

The post challenged Mr Murphy, if he believes Ireland was a dark age because we did not have an abortion law, to make a similar criticism of the tragic impact of the abortion law we now have. Specifically, it drew attention to the 2020 study from his hometown, conducted by UCC researchers (published in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) which revealed that under the new abortion law unborn babies have survived late-term abortions and have been left to die alone unaided. It also highlighted recent article published in the Journal of Medical Ethics states that there is now compelling evidence that unborn babies may have the capacity to feel pain as early as 12 weeks gestation, with a large body of evidence indicating for years that unborn babies can feel pain from 20 weeks or earlier, and how our law makes no provision for precautionary foetal pain relief.

The post was subsequently picked up by Irish-American media, including Irish Central and the Irish Star. Naturally enough critics failed to grapple with the harrowing issues raised in the post, and instead obfuscated by bringing up misleading or irrelevant subjects. But the post has had made a massive reach, in Ireland and internationally which will hopefull educate many people about the horrifying realities of the abortion regime in Ireland.

** Florida voters reject extreme pro-abortion amendment
------------------------------------------------------------

In a momentous pro-life victory, voters in Florida defeated Amendment 4 on Tuesday night.

If passed into law, it would have allowed abortion up-to-birth in the state in potentially wide-ranging circumstances. The Amendment 4 result fell short of the 60% threshold required to give effect to the radical new proposals.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been widely praised for the leadership he showed in defeating the extreme proposal. SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfeiser said: "Thanks to Gov. Ron DeSantis, when we wake up tomorrow, babies with beating hearts will still be protected in the free state of Florida."

The victory shows what can be achieved when politicians refuse to waver and take a lead in defending the right-to-life. It represents a major win for the pro-life movement in the US and is a resounding defeat for the media led lie which sought to convince people that in today's America the pro-life movement had become politically toxic and could not succeed.

More than $110 million was spent by the pro-abortion lobby to try and impose the extreme and deceptively written proposal on Floridians.

Also on Tuesday, South Dakota and Nebraska voters rejected equally radical pro-abortion proposals from being enshrined into state law.

Meanwhile in a series of highly regrettable developments, Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, and New York, all voted in favour of proposals to permit abortion in their respective states.

** US Presidential result creates opportunities for pro-life movement
------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday's election results in the US greatly increase the chances of further pro-life gains there, following on from the landmark overturning of Roe v Wade in 2022.

Regardless of where one stands with regard to Donald Trump the man, there is no disputing the decisions he took in his previous administration directly led to the greatest pro-life victory in 50 years and opened the door to the possibility once again of unborn babies being granted legal protection at state level across the US.

Tuesday's result, which saw President Trump re-elected for a second term, is being interpreted by commentators as a total repudiation of the extreme positions of the Democratic Party on a range of issues including abortion.

Tuesday's election also saw significant pro-life gains both in the Senate and Congress. Taken together, the results create the opportunity for more pro-life wins and allow the focus to shift from promoting abortion at every turn to focussing instead on reducing abortion numbers and protecting freedom of conscience protections for healthcare workers from being compelled to assist in abortions.

It behoves the pro-life movement to take full advantage of this wonderful opportunity, to stay focussed on results and avoid getting caught up in personality politics or any other distractions that might stand in the way of progress being achieved and lives being saved.
