In a momentous pro-life victory, voters in Florida defeated Amendment 4 on Tuesday night.
If passed into law, it would have allowed abortion up-to-birth in the state in potentially wide-ranging circumstances. The Amendment 4 result fell short of the 60% threshold required to give effect to the radical new proposals.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been widely praised for the leadership he showed in defeating the extreme proposal. SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfeiser said: "Thanks to Gov. Ron DeSantis, when we wake up tomorrow, babies with beating hearts will still be protected in the free state of Florida."
The victory shows what can be achieved when politicians refuse to waver and take a lead in defending the right-to-life. It represents a major win for the pro-life movement in the US and is a resounding defeat for the media led lie which sought to convince people that in today's America the pro-life movement had become politically toxic and could not succeed.
More than $110 million was spent by the pro-abortion lobby to try and impose the extreme and deceptively written proposal on Floridians.
Also on Tuesday, South Dakota and Nebraska voters rejected equally radical pro-abortion proposals from being enshrined into state law.
Meanwhile in a series of highly regrettable developments, Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, and New York, all voted in favour of proposals to permit abortion in their respective states.
