Minnesotans who apply for a seat within twenty-one days of its initial posting are assured full consideration by the appointing authority. The twenty-one-day posting period is listed next to each seat on the Boards and Commissions *Open Positions [ [link removed] ] webpage*.

Open Appointments Application Process - What Else to Know

* You may apply for a seat after the twenty-one-day posting period but keep in mind that an appointing agency may have finished reviewing applications by that time.
* We encourage you to use the online application because it enables appointing authorities to access your information as soon as it is submitted.
* Applications remain active for one year unless withdrawn by the applicant.
* During that year, applications to a board may be considered for any vacancy on that board.
* Board contacts can answer questions about applying for a seat.
* Appointing authorities—organizations tasked with deciding who to appoint—review applications and make appointments.
