November 4, 2024 — The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State (OSS) is providing notice of state boards, councils, and committees accepting applications for open seats.

Some of the newest vacancies are listed below. The complete list of 732 open seats can be found on the OSS Boards and Commissions Open Positions webpage. Click on the hyperlinks to learn more about the respective boards and their positions. Or use the search fields to search for a specific board or position.

Minnesotans who apply for a seat within twenty-one days of its initial posting are assured full consideration by the appointing authority. The twenty-one-day posting period is listed next to each seat on the Boards and Commissions Open Positions webpage.

• You may apply for a seat after the twenty-one-day posting period but keep in mind that an appointing agency may have finished reviewing applications by that time.
• We encourage you to use the online application because it enables appointing authorities to access your information as soon as it is submitted.
• Applications remain active for one year unless withdrawn by the applicant.
• During that year, applications to a board may be considered for any vacancy on that board.
• Board contacts can answer questions about applying for a seat.
• Appointing authorities—organizations tasked with deciding who to appoint—review applications and make appointments.

1. On the OSS Boards & Commissions website, search for the board's name under the blue Boards & Commissions tab.
2. Click on the blue hyperlink for that board.
3. On the board's website, look for the board contact's name, phone, and email link in the upper right-hand corner.

Based on Minnesota's Open Appointments Laws, the Secretary of State acts as an administrator in publishing board vacancies, receiving applications, and recording appointments.
