Hey John,
Last week, you heard from Alexis, our Executive Director, about our new Peace Is Essential campaign with Community Justice Action Fund (CJAF) [[link removed]] .
As state budgets are changing due to new needs caused by COVID-19, many governors are cutting funding for violence intervention. We CANNOT let that happen. During this time of crisis, gun violence has increased by 6%. These vital violence intervention teams are working around the clock to both keep the peace and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in many of our most historically marginalized communities who need help from trusted sources like these teams.
We launched this campaign with a digital rally and one-time grants to 7 organizations who do this crucial work, including Black Youth Project 100 (BYP 100) [[link removed]] . Now, it’s time to take action.
