But first, an update on the state of the election in Washington:

Like Emily, I’m running against an anti-choice Republican.

In public, my opponent paints himself as a moderate. But here’s what he said to a group of his supporters:

“We have to get some independents and moderates. That’s what we got to do to win. And when we get in there, that’s when we’re going to make some changes. That’s when we start showing our conservative ideals.”

That’s such a cynical brand of politics — saying one thing in public and another behind closed doors.

With so much attention on the presidential race, a lot of folks are just now tuning in to “down-ballot races” like governor and Congress.
