** Key Findings

* The rule of law has declined globally for the 7th consecutive year.
* Rule of law declined in 57% of countries in 2024.
* At least 6.3 billion people live in countries where the rule of law is weaker than in 2016.
* Fundamental freedoms have eroded in 81% of countries since 2016.

* Criminal justice improved in 54% of countries – the first time since 2016 that more countries improved than declined in this area.
* For the first time in five years, most countries (59%) have succeeded in reducing corruption.
