In a few minutes at 12 p.m. CT today, the Texas House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence will resume hearings about Texas’ junk science law and the new scientific evidence that proves Robert Roberson was convicted based on discredited scientific evidence and is innocent.
Robert was scheduled to be executed last Thursday despite new evidence of his innocence. The execution was halted by a subpoena issued by the committee. You can join the livestream at 12 p.m. CT (1 p.m. ET):

On Thursday, the Texas Supreme Court reinstated a temporary restraining order requested by Texas lawmakers to stop Robert's scheduled execution that evening. The restraining order allows for the committee to consider new evidence in his case and evaluate whether the "junk science" law in Texas was applied as intended by the lawmakers who drafted the bill.
"We're deeply grateful to the Texas Supreme Court for respecting the role of the Texas legislature in such consequential matters. We look forward to welcoming Robert to the Texas Capitol, and along with 31 million Texans, finally giving him — and the truth — a chance to be heard."
— Joe Moody and Jeff Leach, State Representatives

The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Founded in 1992 by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, the organization is now an independent nonprofit. Our work is guided by science and grounded in anti-racism.
