Ground-breaking research commissioned by the Solidarity Center and shared at a Climate Week event finds that workers suffering from heat and other environmental stresses are best able to address the effects of climate change when they do so collectively, including bargaining for safe conditions through their unions.

** REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA: ONLINE GAMING WORKERS’ STRIKE MET WITH THREATS ([link removed])

Workers at online gaming company Evolution Georgia, on strike for better pay and safer working conditions, say they face intimidation and physical violence as the company attempts to break their strike rather than continue contract negotiations. More than 4,000 of the company’s 8,000 workers have walked off the job since July 12.

A civil rights activist and once-in-a-generation leader, his impact will be felt forever.

** LIBERIA: FIRESTONE CONTRACT WORKERS WIN UNION, EQUITY

In a significant win for equity on Firestone Liberia’s rubber plantation in Harbel ([link removed]) , more than 90 percent of contract workers voted to join the Firestone Agricultural Workers’ Union of Liberia (FAWUL).
