As natural disasters continue to disrupt lives, schools, and the health of students across the nation, NASN recognizes the critical role of school nurses in ensuring the well-being of children during times of crisis. In times like these, the vital role of school nurses is more evident than ever. School nurses are often the first responders within educational settings, providing essential health services and emotional support and connecting families to community resources in the aftermath of disasters. NASN remains committed to supporting school nurses with resources and training to respond to emergencies. We encourage school districts to ensure adequate preparedness measures are in place to safeguard student health. Together, we can rebuild and create resilient environments where children can continue to learn and thrive despite the challenges posed by natural disasters.
