** Planned Parenthood in Our Schools?
------------------------------------------------------------
The following information has been shared with GLA by a Registered Nurse, and other concerned parents and grandparents from Gwinnett County. The summary below is by Brenda Stroll, also an RN, who served on the Gwinnett County Public Schools oversight committee composed of parents, community members and school district employees who are charged with the annual curriculum review.
Gwinnett County Public Schools is planning to change its sex education program, the process which we were able to delay a couple of years ago through our public review input.
This month until October 31st, Gwinnett parents and all citizens can participate in a new public review to let GCPS know which sex education program they support. Thankfully, they are allowing us to look at Choosing the Best, the abstinence program this time around.
There are very grave concerns with all of the other sex education programs they are considering! They teach what Planned Parenthood wants the students to learn. In addition, the school system has designed the public review as a very tedious process.
Below (click here ([link removed]) ) is a Guide that will make the process significantly easier and much less time consuming. Using the Guide, it will take less than 1 hour to complete the survey.
We need as many people as possible to participate! Last time we had over 500 people participate and it made a difference!
The Guide is here ([link removed]) . It explains each program being considered and how to fill out the survey. When you first see the Guide, it may seem like a lot, but once you start, you will find it goes fast! And you will have a very good understanding of the issue.
Thank you for completing the guide to help Gwinnett County students to have the healthiest sexuality education program.
** Georgia Department of Public Health Corrects Mis-Information in the Media
------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to Governor Brian Kemp’s leadership, the Georgia Department of Public Health issued a notice to all medical providers clarifying misinformation about Georgia’s LIFE Act (a.k.a. Heartbeat Bill.) You can read the notice from September 25, 2024, here ([link removed]) .
GDPH’s notice was driven by two articles which blame the tragic tragic deaths of two Georgia women on Georgia’s LIFE Act instead of where the blame squarely belongs: on the dangerous abortion pills and poor medical care. As you might expect, the articles gained a lot of traction in the news and on social media in an election year. You can read article one here ([link removed]) and article two here ([link removed]) .
In response to these egregious articles, GLA wrote an op-ed which was published on September 20, 2024 in James Magazine among other outlets. You can read it here ([link removed]) or here ([link removed]) .
Please take action and share our op-ed with your state legislator! We MUST get the Women’s Health & Safety Act passed in 2025 to protect the welfare of women and girls in Georgia!

From the U.S. Surgeon General releasing an advisory on the Mental Health and Well-Being of Parents deeming parenting dangerous to your health to the ongoing attempts to make abortion a prolific cultural norm, the Biden-Harris administration continues its steadfast positioning of being radically anti-life and anti-family.

** WHIPLASH
------------------------------------------------------------
In case you missed it, the on-going legal challenges of the LIFE Act have ping ponged once again.
You may recall, almost exactly one year ago, the Georgia Supreme Court ruled that the challenge to the federal constitutionality of the LIFE Act did not stand. The Court sent the second challenge regarding state constitutionality back to Fulton Superior Court for consideration.
In planned political timing during a hotly contested election year on Sept. 30th, Fulton Superior Court Judge McBurney temporarily overturned the LIFE Act ordering state regulations back to before the 2019 law took effect in 2022. This means that abortions were allowed up until 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Immediately, Attorney General Chris Carr filed an appeal which included a request for an emergency stay. The stay was granted and LIFE Act is now back in effect as the Georgia Supreme Court considers the appeal.
