As Chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, I am doing my utmost to focus on the well-being, personal safety, and morale of all service members and their families.

That is why in the Fiscal Year 2020 Defense Appropriations Act, I worked to include a 3.1 percent pay raise for our women and men in uniform.

I also worked to increase funds for military childcare facilities, because I believe that access to affordable and quality childcare is vital to retention in our all-volunteer force -- particularly for mid-career enlisted personnel and officers.

A 3.1 percent pay raise for women and men in uniform -- the largest pay raise since 2010;

Over $70 million in funding for childcare facilities, so that every service-member has access to affordable and quality childcare on their base;

Increased funding for sexual assault response and prevention programs that provide treatment and counseling for sexual assault victims;

A new set of environmental standards to help ensure safe drinking water in defense communities.
