Early voting begins next week, and this presents a significant moment for the Church.
According to a recent Barna study, only 52% of Christians plan to vote in this election – a significant decline from previous cycles. These believers cite a disinterest in “politics” or a general dislike of the major candidates as reasons for their planned lack of participation?
But, what does that abstention mean in reality? It means that this election – and the issues and outcomes it will determine – will be decided with less influence from those who understand our obligations to God, sin nature, and the value of the Imago Dei.
At Frontline Policy Council, we believe this “sideline attitude” cannot be the Church’s positioning for such a time as this! That’s why we have 3 distinct ways to help you and your church:
Resources for your pastor – Pastors are called to preach the Gospel. Yes, that means they should know and understand “the times we are in,” but their job isn’t to “preach politics.” Addressing elections and issues are a part of their biblical mandate, but it does present a hardship for many. That’s why we have sample sermons and other resources specifically for your pastor to help them as they approach this election cycle. Resources for your congregation – Frontline Policy Council has also prepared a full suite of nonpartisan resources that can be shared with your church. Detailed voter guides, bulletin inserts, and an encouraging 3 minute video that can be played for your church are just some of the resources we are making available to you. A Voter Pledge for your church – Do you want to see your church defy that embarrassing 52% number? Can your church be the example of how to cherish your biblical citizenship in this turbulent election cycle? Frontline Policy Council has established an exclusive Georgia partnership with Christians Engaged – a resource that will notify you of where to vote and when to vote via free text messages. We encourage members of your church to sign up, get engaged, and go vote! FORWARD THIS LINK TO MEMBERS OF YOUR CHURCH AND ENCOURAGE EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO PLEDGE TO VOTE! [[link removed]]
Now is the time for God’s Church to be distinct and to carry forward an unashamed Christian witness to our culture. That means we shouldn’t sound like the rest of the world – beholden to a Party, dependent on a candidate, or desperately clinging to political answers for our hope and joy.
It does mean, however, that we should love our neighbor enough to vote to protect the Imago Dei, to do right for the future of our communities, state, and nation, and to advance the issues so clear in God’s Word.
Join us. Defy the trends. And, make the difference.
I believe now is the time for the Church to speak loudly with boldness and clarity. IF YOU AGREE, CLICK HERE FOR MORE RESOURCES [[link removed]] and forward this email to your pastor to encourage church wide participation!
