This is what Sir Keir Starmer, in his first speech as Prime Minister, promised to do. It will be a tall order given current levels of public mistrust in UK politics.

Unless Mr Starmer’s government can fulfil the promises they made to the public in their election campaigning, they will struggle to restore faith in politics.

But how will people know? How many voters actually read the manifesto cover to cover and how many understand what will be required to achieve everything promised?

Full Fact’s Government Tracker will help the public to understand if the government is delivering. For the first time, as well as fact checking what politicians say after they’ve said it, Full Fact will also be monitoring progress against what was promised in exchange for votes.

The Tracker—currently in the early stages of development—will determine whether the Labour Party is following through on the pledges in their manifesto. Starting with around 50 of the nearly 300 pledges, the aim is to expand the tool over time to cover every promise the labour government made during the election campaign.
