Dear Friends and Supporters of Community Labor United,
We hope this newsletter finds you well!
We are excited to share important updates from our Green Justice Coalition as we advance critical organizing initiatives through our Public Transit, Public Good Coalition (PTPG) and our active campaign, “Project Labor Agreements Now for Massachusetts” (PLAN for Mass). Together, these two vital initiatives are making significant strides toward a more equitable and sustainable green future for our communities. Learn more about them below!
Building a Sustainable Future: Insights from Our Community & Labor Leaders on PLA’s
Hear from workers, labor leaders, and community advocates in our new video featuring voices from the Boston Climate Action Network (Executive Director Hessann Farooqi), New England United for Justice (Executive Director Mimi Ramos), the Greater Boston Building Trades (Business Agent Chaton Green), Sheet Metal Workers (Business Agent Shamaiah Turner), and many more. The video highlights the positive impact Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) have had in creating meaningful careers in our state and underscores the growing need to utilize PLAs for key infrastructure projects.

PLAs prioritize inclusivity, ensuring that local community members have access to job opportunities. Through canvassing, street outreach, and workshops, our coalition partners have gathered nearly 2,000 ‘ ([link removed]) Triple Win Pledge ([link removed]) ’ ([link removed]) cards from residents across Massachusetts in just two months, including areas like Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Lynn, Worcester, and more. This strong response shows that communities are eager for PLAs on construction projects as a means to advance a sustainable green economy and build lasting infrastructure. Public Transit, Public Good: Reduced Fare Program for Low-Income Makes Big Impact
We are one month into the launch of the Income-Eligible Reduced Fare Program in Massachusetts, aimed at providing eligible low-income residents with affordable public transportation options. So far, over 6,000+ people have applied and been pre-approved online, with more than 115+ registrations completed at in-person service center sites. Additional service centers are expected to open this month to accommodate the growing demand and ensure access to the program to MA residents. The strong interest from thousands of residents highlights the critical need for accessible transportation solutions.
The Public Transit, Public Good coalition won and secured over 25 million dollars of funding for the program in the state budget to be operationalized this Fall, this reduced fare program is designed to make commuting more affordable and accessible for all, ensuring that everyone can utilize the transit system without financial strain, and take public-transit more often.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, we encourage you to spread the word, find out more information on eligibility and how to register, learn more here ([link removed]) .
Together, we are making an impact. Thank You for Your Support!
As we continue our organizing efforts and hope to make an even greater impact, We appreciate your commitment to our mission and your engagement with our work. Thank you for taking the time to read our updates and for standing with us as we work toward a more equitable and sustainable future.
