All Eyes on Arizona ๐Ÿ‘€
#1 Battleground State: Did you know that Politico listed Arizona as the #1 battleground state [[link removed]] for flipping the state legislature? bit.ly/September29EdReport [bit.ly/September29EdReport]
Ballots drop Wednesday! We have 4 short weeks to make the case to Arizona voters to vote for many key issues โ€” the state legislature, school board races, school bond & override funding measures, AZ Supreme Court justices, and critically important propositions.
Sound like a lot? IT IS. Weโ€™re lucky to have many partners in this fight, and a grassroots army of volunteers who are ready to fight like hell for public education. And when we fight โ€”- WE WIN. If you canโ€™t pitch in with knocking doors, driving canvassers, calling voters or texting, donate to our Public Education Defense Fund [[link removed]] ! Your $5, $50, or $500 [[link removed]] allows us to print ballot guides, knock doors, make calls, send texts, put up signs, place ads, and SO MUCH MORE!
So whatโ€™s on your ballot? When it comes to public education, a LOT. And the ballot is likely to be 2-3 pages long in most jurisdictions. Visit bit.ly/Vote4Schools [[link removed]] for all of the voting information you need! Find the ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ for our recommendations below.
The AZ Legislature: The candidates are in place, the math is on our side, and the polling is there [[link removed]] to win for Arizona students. But when voters donโ€™t know all of the candidates, they may not vote downballot. THIS is why voter outreach is so critical. If we want to fund K-12 schools, to change policies that hurt AZ students and educators, to feed AZ students โ€” and to stop the madness of MAGA book bans, attacks on LGBTQ+ students, off-the-rails universal vouchers, and tax cuts for the rich that are robbing our budgets โ€” we have to vote for new representation at our State Capitol.
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ See our full list of endorsed legislative candidates here [[link removed]] !
School Boards: MAGA school board candidates are attempting to take over Arizona school boards. Theyโ€™re propped up by Moms for Liberty, Turning Point USA, and other extremist groups who do not believe in public education. These types of candidates are losing across the US, as voters are increasingly rejecting MAGA extremism. SOSAZ has recruited, trained, and supported hundreds of pro-public education school board candidates across Arizona in 2024 โ€” and now we are ready to elect these candidates ๐Ÿ’ช

Propositions: Here is our handy Proposition Voting Guide:
[[link removed]]
The vast majority of these are legislative referrals put on the ballot for nefarious reasons by the extremist-run state legislature.
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ For more details on our positions, visit our Propositions page at sosarizona.org/vote4publiced/propositions/ [[link removed]]
Bonds & Overrides: At least 40 school districts across Arizona are putting school funding measures to local voters on the November ballot. ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ You can see a full list here โ€” we recommend a YES vote on every single measure. [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
These measures are critical for Arizona students [[link removed]] . The vast majority of these measures do not increase taxes, and are continuations of tax provisions voters have already passed. In general, these measures fund school facilities, safety infrastructure, teacher pay, full-day kindergarten, buses, technology, etc. โ€”- you know, the things our legislature should be funding (but wonโ€™t).
AZ Supreme Court Justices: This year, everyone in the state has the chance to vote on retaining Justices Clint Bolick & Kathryn King. Both justices are members of the Federalist Society and have a history of dangerous decisions that carry major implications for public education and other key issues.
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ We recommend a DO NOT RETAIN vote for both Justices Bolick and King. [[link removed]] This would give Gov. Hobbs two AZ Supreme Court appointments in January, on top of her upcoming appointment to replace Justice Brutinel [[link removed]] . We also recommend a NO vote on Prop 137 , which would eliminate votersโ€™ ability to weigh in on judges through retention elections, stripping our right to hold them publicly accountable. Sarcastic thanks to the AZ Legislature for referring that doozy to the ballot, and making it retroactive to protect their friends King & Bolick ๐Ÿ™„
Step up to help flip the legislature to one that supports public schools and will rein in this off-the-rails voucher program!
