Claims scorecards 2024 data is now available on our extranet for our members. Our scorecard is a unique, interactive tool in an excel format to assist NHS trusts and their clinical teams with an analysis of their organisation’s clinical and non-clinical claims. The scorecard allows the user to view both clinical and non-clinical claims by type and cost, and, specifically for clinical claims to review the associated specialty/cause. We have now published our Annual report statistics, the Supplementary annual statistics and the Member and health authority statistics for 2023-24. These resources provide data transparency and insights, including more detailed information about our claims than is available in our Annual report and accounts 2023/24. New clinical negligence claims agreement launched [[link removed]]

Our new Clinical Negligence Claims Agreement 2024 replaces the Covid-19 Clinical Negligence Protocol established in 2020. It reflects ongoing commitment to fair and efficient resolution of clinical negligence claims while promoting patient safety and learning. It was developed with Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) and the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers (SCIL). Learn more about the new agreement [[link removed]].

Associate Advisers join to deliver education [[link removed]]

In July we welcomed six Associate Advisers for Education to the Practitioner Performance Advice team. They will collaborate with our established Advice colleagues to deliver educational programmes aimed at building knowledge and capability in handling complex performance cases. Neonatal jaundice: Illustrative case story [[link removed]]

We recently published Neonatal jaundice: Illustrative case story. This draws on, and aims to share learning from, clinical negligence cases involving neonatal jaundice. It includes the application of the System Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety (SEIPs) model to aid learning from a system perspective. Primary care safer practice webinar series [[link removed]]

We hosted our first primary and urgent care webinar series earlier this year in collaboration with Northwest panel firms. This four-part series shared learning from claims to promote reflection and improve patient care. The presentation slides are now available on our website [[link removed]].

Action to improve patient safety in primary care [[link removed]]

On 13 September, our Safety and Learning team, in collaboration with Health Services Safety Investigations Body and NHS England, hosted a virtual forum on the benefits of implementing safety science in primary care, responding to patient safety incidents and the support available to staff working in primary care. New appointment to our Reserving and Pricing Committee [[link removed]]

We have appointed Amerjit Grewal as a new independent member of our Reserving and Pricing Committee. Her expertise in reserving, capital modelling, business planning and pricing, along with her involvement in the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, will be valuable assets to the committee.
