John,
Eighty-six Texas legislators. More than 30 medical and scientific experts. And the lead detective on the case. All of these people believe Robert Roberson is innocent.
And yet, Robert Roberson is scheduled to be executed on Oct. 17 for a crime that experts say never occurred. After exhausting every legal remedy, it’s up to us to stop the execution of this innocent man. Only Texas Gov. Greg Abbott can grant Robert clemency and cancel his execution, so we must urge the governor to do the right thing. Click to call Gov. Abbott now urge him to cancel Robert's execution.

Robert has spent over 20 years on death row for the death of his daughter, Nikki, based on a debunked ‘Shaken Baby Syndrome’ hypothesis. Robert will be the first person in the U.S. executed based on this discredited theory unless Gov. Greg Abbott intervenes.

Nikki’s tragic death was the result of undiagnosed viral and bacterial pneumonia, worsened by inappropriate respiratory-suppressing prescriptions, and an accidental fall from bed. Robert’s grief — the most profound loss any parent can experience — was compounded by his arrest before an autopsy was even performed then a conviction in which his own appointed lawyer did not investigate but instead agreed with the prosecution that it must be a “shaken baby” case.
We can’t give Robert back the time he has lost, but we can help spare him further grief and prevent the execution of an innocent father. But we must act now to convince Gov. Abbott to prevent this irreversible mistake.
With just over two weeks until Robert’s execution date, we’re asking you to please call Gov. Abbott now.

The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Founded in 1992 by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, the organization is now an independent nonprofit. Our work is guided by science and grounded in anti-racism.
