New York Proud: Immigrants are NY
From street vendors to tattoo artists, drag queens and scientists, immigrants shape the rich and vibrant culture of New York City and our country as whole. Yet public support for immigration has decreased at
record levels<[link removed]> for the first time since 2005. Now more than ever, we must shift the narrative around immigration to rebuild public support for humane and compassionate immigration policies.
For the past year, TOA’s Charlie Sherman and Britney Vongdara have worked in close collaboration with New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), F.Y. Eye, and photographer Oscar B. Castillo to bring “
New York Proud<[link removed]>" to life!
This public art project reaffirms immigrants’ vital contributions in shaping NYC’s identity by highlighting local immigrants and their stories. For a limited time, the #NewYorkProud portraits can be seen in subway stations, bus ads, and pop-up photo exhibits throughout the city to remind audiences of all the ways immigrants shape NYC’s vibrant culture.

Meet the Beyond Democracy Cohort
There are countless advocates across the South working tirelessly to ensure communities of color can have full access to participating in our democracy. We were lucky enough to gather over a dozen of these incredible changemakers for our
Beyond Democracy<[link removed]> cohort where we built a narrative strategy to mobilize Southern BIPOC communities. Meet the cohort on
