Reflections on legacy, organizing, and the state of the movement for Energy Democracy
Thank you for taking an hour of your busy day to sit with our ancestor...
Give thanks to those who participated in our Virtual Reflection Circle in honor of Energy Democracy Project's co-founder, Al Weinrub.
We kicked off the conversation with Al's own words ([link removed]) reflecting on the question: "How are you thinking about the energy democracy movement these days?"
In reflection of the question, we held and sat with the light that Al brought to our work going forward. Al was a beacon of integrity throughout his life. He approached each situation with unwavering honesty, never compromising his principles. His moral compass was the guiding light for those who were fortunate enough to know him, reminding us the importance of staying true to our values.
Al will continue to be the guiding light for us moving forward. In this reflection, we sat with the reminder of what it felt like to have principled conversations with each other, to work intergenerationally, and to break our silos to work across different sectors.
Recognizing the continued commitment we need to have to lean onto each other in this work, we closed the circle with the invitation to engage in the narrative campaign Al helped led to launch:
1. Stand in solidarity with Puerto Rico: energydemocracy.us/REFOCUS
2. Amplify Energy Democracy with the hashtag #ReimaginedEnergy

Recording of the Reflection Circle to Honor Al Weinrub on September 12, 2024
"Solving the climate crisis is not about renewable energy at all. It is really about a much broader way of looking at what needs to be done to address the challenges."
- Al Weinrub (1943-2023)
