We have a secret,
John: we absolutely love trains
(and public transit)!
And what’s not to love? When you ride the train, you’re not only reducing
your carbon footprint, you’re also spending less time in traffic and in
airports so you can do more of what you want.
But for quite some time, there’s been a myth that America is too big for
train travel. History tells a different story: most of our vast country
was built and developed around train lines.
Now, with the advent of high-speed rail, trains are faster and more
efficient than ever before! But the U.S. has significantly lagged behind
other countries in terms of developing its own high speed system. Just
take a look at the map below: 👇

Until now…enter the American High Speed Rail Act. Introduced this year,
this transformative legislation would:
* Invest $41 billion annually in high speed rail
* Prioritize grants for regions not serviced by the airlines or
government subsidized routes
* Create funding flexibility and promote transit-oriented development
incentives
* Develop a comprehensive set of safety regulations and standards
And that's not all,
John! If enacted, the bill
would provide the country with tangible economic benefits and vastly
improve America’s transportation network.
Most of us seem to agree. According to the Rail Passengers Association,
nearly 78% of the country wants a bigger, cleaner, and better passenger
rail network.
But unfortunately, this bill hasn’t moved since being introduced into
Congress earlier this year. We’re looking to change that — and we need
your help!
