BREAKING: ROBERT ROBERSON’S HABEAS CORPUS PLEA DENIED

Today, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) denied Robert Roberson’s application for a writ of habeas corpus and motion for a stay of execution. Here’s why:

The CCA claimed that this application did not meet the procedural requirements, despite new medical and scientific evidence that proves that no crime ever occurred and that Robert is innocent. This evidence was not available when Robert’s previous habeas application was filed in 2016.

"Robert’s fate is now at the mercy of the governor. He and the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles are the only ones standing in the way of a horrific and irreversible mistake: the execution of an innocent man."
— Gretchen Sims Sween, attorney for Robert Roberson

Robert is an innocent father who has spent over two decades on Texas’ death row for a crime that never occurred. In 2003, Robert was wrongfully convicted of the death of his daughter, Nikki, under the now-debunked shaken baby syndrome hypothesis. Today, medical and scientific evidence shows that Nikki died of natural and accidental causes.

Unless Gov. Greg Abbott intervenes, Robert will be the first person in the U.S. executed based on the discredited shaken baby syndrome hypothesis.

John: We can’t let an innocent father be executed for a crime that never occurred. That’s why we’re urging supporters like you to add your name to Robert’s petition.

John, we have until Oct. 17 to push Gov. Abbott to intervene; we cannot allow Texas to make the irreversible mistake of executing an innocent person. Will you add your name to stop the execution of Robert Roberson?
