UN Women initiated consultations with women’s organizations and activists across the Europe and Central Asia region in April to bring their solutions to the forefront of the COVID-19 response. Together, they called upon governments and development partners to ensure effective dialogue with civil society to put women’s needs at the centre of response and recovery efforts, warning of a roll back in women’s rights if actions are not urgently taken. A new global advocacy initiative, “Rise for All” brings together women leaders to mobilize support for the UN roadmap for social and economic recovery from COVID-19, and to fully fund the UN Response and Recovery Trust Fund. Convened by the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, the initiative features influential leaders and activists from all walks of life, including UN Women Executive Director UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and National UN Women Ambassador of Pakistan Muniba Mazari.
