Today, we want to share the inspiring story of Maytham Alshadood, a New American Leader from Colorado via Iraq who has truly embraced his immigrant and refugee experience to make a lasting impact in his community. Maytham took NAL’s Ready to Lead Ⓡ and Ready to Win Ⓡ trainings in 2017 and soon afterward was able to advocate for a law that enabled refugees and immigrants to qualify for in-state tuition upon resettlement. Maytham was successfully able to navigate a complex political landscape and engage his community with the help of NAL’s training, resources and mentorship. [[link removed]]

As the only national 501 c3 organization dedicated to training New Americans, first and second generation immigrants, to run, win, and lead in public office, NAL’s primary footprint spans several key states, each with its unique challenges and opportunities.
