Invest in the next generation of New American leaders

Dear John:

Today, we want to share the inspiring story of Maytham Alshadood, a New American Leader from Colorado via Iraq who has truly embraced his immigrant and refugee experience to make a lasting impact in his community. Maytham took NAL’s Ready to Lead and Ready to Win trainings in 2017 and soon afterward was able to advocate for a law that enabled refugees and immigrants to qualify for in-state tuition upon resettlement. Maytham was successfully able to navigate a complex political landscape and engage his community with the help of NAL’s training, resources and mentorship.

As the only national 501 c3 organization dedicated to training New Americans, first and second generation immigrants, to run, win, and lead in public office, NAL’s primary footprint spans several key states, each with its unique challenges and opportunities. From our early work in New York, Arizona, Michigan to Colorado, where Maytham is driving change and inspiring his community to engage in the democratic process, to Nevada and California where we are forming new partnerships, stories like Maytham’s are a testament to the power of diverse leadership.
