ACTION SPOTLIGHT

DEADLINE FAST APPROACHING: Help reduce
dangerous diesel truck pollution!

Thirty-nine percent of people in the
United States are exposed to unhealthy levels of air pollution.
The single largest source of that pollution nationwide? The
transportation sector.

One state has developed a lifesaving
solution. California’s Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) standard will
help reduce pollution from trucks, improve air quality and public
health for millions, and fight the climate crisis. But before
California and other states can enforce this rule, they need the
green light from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Tell the EPA to help accelerate our
nation's transition to cleaner trucks, fight climate change, and
protect public health by the Sept. 16 comment deadline. ( [link removed] )

CAMPAIGN UPDATE

Extreme Heat, Flooding, and More – What’s
Next for Climate Action in Washington?

July 2024 was our planet’s warmest July
on record, according to new data from the Biden administration’s
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) — the
fourteenth month in a row of record high temperatures. As global
temps climb, extreme weather events like wildfires, hurricanes,
and floods are becoming more intense and unpredictable.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently took a
critical step to address this worsening crisis by issuing a new
rule that increases the nation’s resilience to future flood
disasters.

But we need more urgent action to slash
climate pollution and reduce our dependence on dirty fossil fuels
if we are to avert climate catastrophe. Our lawmakers have the
tools to continue getting the job done, but they need to hear
from us.

Join the call for equitable climate
action in Washington — make your voice heard now. ( [link removed] )

* Alaska’s Public Lands Protected: The
Bureau of Land Management upheld protections for 28 million acres
of Alaska’s public lands, including Bristol Bay, where we’re
already fighting to stop the proposed Pebble Mine. Thank you to
NRDC activists like you who submitted more than 11,569 public
comments in support of these vital protections. Your voices were

STORYTELLER SPOTLIGHT

NRDC x Earthly Education Collab:
Protect Arctic Wildlands from Big Oil ( [link removed] )

More than 10 million acres of pristine
wildlands in the Western Arctic were recently protected from Big
Oil. This region is warming four times faster than the rest of
the world, but ConocoPhillips and other fossil fuel companies
have been targeting the Arctic for oil and gas drilling. Now we
have a critical opportunity for an even bigger area of the Arctic
to be protected. Tell the Biden administration to protect the
Arctic before the public comment period ends on Sept. 16 > ( [link removed] )

ACTION ROUNDUP

* Save Our Nation’s Oldest Forests from
Destruction: ( [link removed] ) Urge the U.S. Forest Service to finalize a strong plan that
protects forests and fights the climate crisis. Submit a public
comment by the Sept. 20 deadline > ( [link removed] )
