The Report
A newsletter from The Hechinger Report
Liz Willen
Hi all!
The official end of summer is now in sight, bringing with it bittersweet back-to-school memories. (Mine: I could never sleep the night before school began.)
With the sadness comes all the anticipation and urgency of a new school year — good timing for the many important stories we want to share with you this week.
One story is part of our continuing look at the end of affirmative action in college admissions: We’ve zeroed in on what it means to students when scholarships based on race ([link removed]) come to an end.
We also bring you a report from the national summit held by the conservative parent group Moms for Liberty, along with their new agenda ([link removed]) . The group has made transgender students the focus of their current messaging.
Hechinger has also taken a detailed look at the messy legal landscape ([link removed]) that follows President Biden’s rewrite of Title IX rules for addressing sex-based discrimination.
I also wanted to let you know about our new newsletter ([link removed]) on climate change helmed by our managing editor, Caroline Preston, filled with insights about how the early childhood, K-12, higher education and workforce systems are being reshaped by climate change.
We love to welcome new readers and new members ([link removed]) , so please sign up! We love hearing from all of you.
