Governor DeWine celebrates opening of Maysville School-Based Health Center [ [link removed] ]
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik visited Zanesville to celebrate the opening of the Maysville Local School District's new school-based health center.
The center is funded with support from Ohio's Appalachian Children's Health Initiative [ [link removed] ], which was created by the DeWine-Husted Administration to support the creation or expansion of school-based health centers.
This is the first center funded by the Appalachian Children's Health Initiative to open since the program was announced in March.

Husted convenes meeting of Governor’s Executive Workforce Board [ [link removed] ]
Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted convened the Governor's Executive Workforce Board Meeting at Ricart Automotive in Groveport.
At the meeting, Lt. Governor Husted provided an update on several OWT programs including TechCred. Also during the meeting, Ricart Automotive representatives presented the history of the business and officials from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services presented about the skills-based hiring tool.

Lt. Governor Husted sent a _letter of support [ [link removed] ]_ to accompany the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' waiver submission to the U.S. Department of Agriculture that would allow Ohio students under the age of 21 to work without their wage impacting their family’s SNAP benefits.

The Ohio Department of Development announced [ [link removed] ] more than $2 million in grants to improve housing access across four Ohio counties.
The funding is part of the second round of the Welcome Home Ohio program [ [link removed] ], and completes the awards for grant applications received for state fiscal year 2024. In total, $100 million is available through the program for grants to help landbanks purchase, rehabilitate, or build qualifying residential properties for income-eligible Ohioans. Additionally, $25 million in nonrefundable tax credits remains available to landbanks and eligible developers for rehab and new construction projects once a property is sold.
“As more and more companies look to expand in Ohio or put down new roots here, we must have quality, affordable housing available,” said Governor DeWine. “Through this program, we’re helping local communities prepare for the future, and we’re ensuring that more families have the opportunity to thrive in the heart of it all.”

Lt. Gov Husted Joins Buckeye State Sheriff's Association
Lt. Governor Husted joined the Buckeye State Sheriffs' Association in Northwest Ohio at their regional luncheon where he shared why our men and women in law enforcement are so critical to the success and prosperity of our communities and state.

Governor DeWine released a statement on the death of Columbus Blue Jacket Johnny Gaudreau:
"Fran and I offer our deepest condolences to the family of Columbus Blue Jacket Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew. Our thoughts are also with the entire Blue Jackets organization as they mourn the loss of one of their own."

Recovery Friendly Workplace Program Group Photo
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and RecoveryOhio [ [link removed] ] Director Aimee Shadwick announced a new program designed to create job opportunities for people in recovery, combat the stigma surrounding addiction and mental illness, and provide a boost to Ohio businesses.
The new Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace program allows businesses that implement recovery friendly practices as part of their everyday operations and core values to earn the official state designation as an Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace. Such practices include creating policies that support hiring people in recovery, providing mental health and wellness education and training programs to employees, helping employees seek treatment for addiction, and more.
