WG Economy: The San Francisco Connection

Between Kamala Harris and Inflation

WG Economy | David Winston

August 28, 2024

As the new Democratic nominee, Vice President Harris is being portrayed as
a fresh face to the political scene, when she has been a central player in
Biden administration policies for the last four years. Her campaign on the
"opportunity economy" includes left-leaning standbys like price gouging and
increased taxes on unrealized gains, but middle of the road themes like
child tax credits.

What we don't hear in the economic discussion is any mention of the
Biden-Harris administration's first signature legislation - the $1.9
trillion American Rescue Plan passed in March 2021. At the time, Biden
officials insisted on "going big" under the belief that the 2009 Obama
stimulus plan had been too small. President Biden's remarks at the Rose
Garden ceremony included this fateful statement: It's critical to
demonstrate that government function, can function and deliver prosperity,
security, and opportunity for the people of this country. Given the
trajectory of inflation, that spending bill delivered anything but
prosperity.

WG Discussion Points: Three Campaign Beliefs That Are Obsolete In 2024

WG Discussion Points | David Winston

August 23, 2024

In this election year, some long-held campaign beliefs are being proven
wrong. Here are three examples:

1.) Voters don't pay attention in the summer

This concept has been obsolete for several cycles, but especially this
year. Biden's June 27 debate performance was so bad that the campaign
couldn't withstand the backlash, ending his re-election bid three weeks
later. This led to a swap of the party nominee that has up-ended the race.
A headline yesterday called July "the month that changed everything."

2.) Candidate favorables don't matter, only driving up the opponent's
negatives.

We believe that candidate favorables are an undervalued political asset
that determines the candidate's ability to get a message out. For a
candidate with high negatives, voter reaction can be summed up as "there's
this guy I don't like." President Biden encountered this problem as his
brand image deteriorated. His ability to communicate an economic message
was severely hampered, with his ads falling flat as voters turned out his
statements.

From dusty small-town roots, to the glitter of Hollywood, and then on to
commanding the world stage, REAGAN is a cinematic journey of overcoming the
odds. Told through the voice of Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent whose
life becomes inextricably linked with Ronald Reagan's when Reagan first
catches the Soviets’ attention as an actor in Hollywood, this film offers a
perspective as unique as it is captivating.

Dennis Quaid brings to life a story that transcends the boundaries of a
traditional biopic, offering a profound exploration of the enduring impact
of the power of one man who overcame the odds, sustained by the love of a
woman who supported him in his journey.

REAGAN releases in theaters nationwide on August 30, 2024.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT REAGAN:

"REAGAN accurately portrays the man I knew."

- Edwin Meese III, Former U.S. Attorney General

“My admiration for Reagan is well known, but that’s different from hero
worship. This movie captures that spirit - his high moments but also his
lows, and we see a man in full - the peaks and valleys. In fact, it’s the
valleys that make a man more interesting. It left me in tears & gave me a
new perspective on a man I thought I knew.”

- Grover Norquist, President, Americans for Tax Reform

"A must-see movie! Dennis Quaid captures the essence of Ronald Reagan,
showing the grit and fortitude which inspired so many & allowed Reagan to
revive America & beat communism."

- Brent Bozell, President, Media Research Center

"One of the most important films to come out in the last decade!"

- Charlie Kirk, President, Turning Point USA

"This is a great film. It covers well all the most exciting events of
President Reagan’s life. A heartwarming reminder for those of us who knew
him and an eye-opening education for the rising generation who didn’t."

- Morton Blackwell, President, Leadership Institute

"REAGAN tells the incredible story of one of our country's most
consequential Presidents. This movie shows President Ronald Reagan as a
whole person and demonstrates to us the many ways in which his life and
leadership impact our country today, more than 40 years after his
Presidency."

- Courtney Hope Britt, National Chairman, College Republican National
Committee

"Ronald Reagan was one of the greatest presidents in American history, yet
many have not known how significantly his faith in Jesus Christ shaped his
life - especially after his surviving an assassination attempt. This
dynamic new film, REAGAN, tells this story and much more!"

- Greg Laurie, Senior Pastor, Harvest Ministries

"REAGAN serves as a history lesson for the younger generation and a
reminder of American values for the older. Don't miss it!"

- Rick Duboise, Asst Superintendent, Assemblies of God USA

"REAGAN is a spectacular, unforgettable film, one that allowed me to walk
through the life of a great and unifying leader."

to be swept away in a deeply human love story that seems all too rare in
our modern world today."

- Kathie Lee Gifford, American TV Presenter, Singer, Songwriter, Actress &
Author

"REAGAN gives a stunning and intimate glimpse into a true love story and
passionate mission with a foundation of faith! Reagan’s desire to use media
for the good of society is also riveting & refreshing to witness. Truth,
beauty, and goodness are written all over this film!"
