Dear Friend,
Just a few months ago, the Outdoors Alliance for Kids (OAK) celebrated our national gathering, OAK Week, by going to Congress to advocate for federal policies and programs that get kids, youth and families connected to nature.Â
One of these crucial programs is the Every Kid Outdoors Program, which gives all fourth graders a free pass to national waters, lands and forests for themselves and their family. Since its implementation, it has been a huge success. In the last nine years alone, this program has helped 1,105,805 students explore nature.Â
But time is running out. This program will only continue for two more years unless Congress passes the Every Kid Outdoors Act, a bill that not only permanently funds the Every Kid Outdoors program but also extends it to fifth graders. Sign the petition here!

This month, we are hosting the Every Kid Outdoors Month of Action to keep the momentum going. In addition to an exciting list of activities, we plan to go to Congress again in a few weeks to continue advocating for this bill! By adding your name to our petition, you are showing Congress that you support the Every Kid Outdoors program, which is not only necessary for the mental and physical health of kids, but also supports a new generation of environmental stewards.

Throughout OAK week, I was struck again and again by the power and passion of the environmental and outdoors community. From watching volunteers speaking to their representatives, to seeing children running around outside during our morning hikes, it was inspiring to see everyone come together to advocate for programs to increase access to nature for children and families. Whether you’ve stood with us on the steps of the Capitol or signed our petition, you’re helping to make a difference for kids across the country.
