Hi, it's Rahna Epting, MoveOn's executive director.

Did you watch the National Association of Black Journalists' annual
convention the other day? I was beside myself as I witnessed Donald Trump,
when asked about Vice President Kamala Harris, say, "Is she Indian or is
she Black?" and then falsely claim that she "happened to turn Black" a few
years ago. As a Black and Iranian American woman, I've had my race
questioned one too many times before, and let me tell you, it's incredibly
insulting and demeaning. I am proud of who I am, and to see a former
president speaking like this to educated women of color about our vice
president was just another low in Donald Trump's playbook.

Trump's comments are a direct attack on me and the very idea of America.
They're a blatant attempt to demoralize and belittle women and people of
color in our society. His vision of America is dystopian—a country full of
divisiveness and hate, where everything is zero sum, where we're forced to
choose one side, one identity, and then fight each other.

We do not want Trump's America. We will not accept Trump's America.

But 81 days from today, this could be our reality—if we do not do
everything we possibly can to stop Trump.

The fact is that while there's incredible excitement and momentum for Vice
President Harris's candidacy, this election is nail-bitingly close in the
battleground states that will determine the outcome.^1

MoveOn and our members have to reach out to the 1.5 million "surge
voters"—who lean Democratic but may not turn out to vote without our
nudge—in the key states that will decide this election. And we have 81
days left to do it.

This narrow-margin election is going to come down to what we do or don't
do to reach voters in key battleground states, which include Pennsylvania,
Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia.

This election isn't just about Democrats winning; it's about us protecting
our country's democracy from Trump, Project 2025's terrifying agenda, and
the MAGA movement's authoritarianism, hate, and divisiveness.

We've seen firsthand how Trump and his MAGA cronies seek to divide us,
undermine our institutions, embolden white supremacists, and attack our
democracy, rights, and freedoms.

And make no mistake: We are aiming to win by a landslide. Because Trump is
planning to create a false narrative of victory—even if he loses. He's
openly stated his intention to reject the results if they don't go his
way. One of his top supporters, Elon Musk, who owns X (formerly Twitter),
is posting political deepfakes that get hundreds of millions of views. All
of this is a direct threat to our nation's democracy.

We need to fight to get every single voter to the polls who believes in a
better future—a future with affordable health care, quality education, and
economic justice for all.
