Dear John! [[link removed]]
DACA eased a lot of anxiety in my life. It has been the best political half-measure to happen, changing the lives of hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants across the country. DACA created a sense of protection so that I may live comfortably; without the constant fear of being deported in the Border Region. It opened up an opportunity for me to work legally and earn money to help pay my tuition for higher education. Along with the support of my parents, DACA granted me the chance to pursue and obtain a degree in Aerospace Engineering; a dream that I had all my life. From as far back as I can remember, I have felt the need to overcome the angst of an uncertain future and of living in the shadows of other peoples’ judgements. I still recall the first time I told someone that I was Undocumented; how I broke down in tears with strong feelings of guilt, pain, and unworthiness - sentiments I never anticipated arising. I have grown to own my identity. I am proud to be Undocumented and Unafraid. The undocumented community continues to dream; to be resilient and unwavering in our collective fight for human rights. Despite the challenges, I choose to persist in the fight to protect those who feel like they have no options.

My hope is that our ‘promise-makers’ will finally commit political capital towards our fight for legalization. No more symbolic gestures. No more waiting in fear. No more jumping through hoops to be accepted. We see America as our home. We continue to desire the feeling of belonging in this country. The world must envision and create a space that is truly inclusive and move policies that ensure it happens. As a board member at Alliance San Diego, I have committed myself to the fight for all peoples, because injustice and inequality looms in all communities. Here, I am surrounded by wonderful, real human beings who acknowledge me and contribute to my growth. [[link removed]]
Alliance San Diego has stood in the gap to claim the dignity and human rights of people like me and all those living in San Diego. It is a team of dedicated individuals who are committed to building collective power. Through every program, they are making sure they start with dignity. It has been 12 long years since DACA provided temporary relief for individuals seeking citizenship. Today I invite you to stand with me, undocumented immigrants, and the work of Alliance San Diego by making a donation of $12 or more to commemorate the anniversary and further their work. [[link removed]] With your support we will continue to fight for an environment of safety, harmony, justice, and equality; an environment that uplifts the inherent dignity of all humans no matter their status.
