continues to spread due to ongoing violence and displacement.

Dear friend,

This summer, crises intensify in Sudan and Gaza. Ongoing violence is
causing extraordinary suffering — and Mercy Corps teams are racing to
deliver urgent aid amid large-scale humanitarian catastrophes.

In Sudan, famine has been confirmed in parts of North
Darfur, according to last week’s Integrated Food Security Phase
Classification (IPC) hunger report. The region is home to 500,000-800,000
people displaced by violent conflict. Across Sudan, more than 26 million
people need humanitarian food assistance, and a recent assessment by Mercy
Corps in Central and South Darfur found that 9 out of 10 children are
suffering from life-threatening malnutrition.

Mercy Corps teams have provided families across Sudan with cash
assistance, seeds, fresh food vouchers, and support for smallholder
farmers.

In Gaza, conditions continue to worsen as the entire
population faces emergency level shortages of food, water, medical care,
and other essential supplies. Evacuation orders from Israel are causing
Gaza's 2.1 million Palestinians to seek shelter in only 14% of the strip.
And as fighting escalates even in so-called safe zones, it’s become
increasingly clear that there truly is nowhere safe in Gaza.

We will continue to provide updates about conditions on the ground and our
emergency response in Gaza, Sudan, and other crisis zones in the weeks and
months ahead.
Donations from the Mercy Corps community enable our teams and partners to
bring vital aid where it’s needed most.
