This summer, crises intensify in Sudan and Gaza. Ongoing violence is causing extraordinary suffering — and Mercy Corps teams are racing to deliver urgent aid amid large-scale humanitarian catastrophes. In Sudan, famine has been confirmed in parts of North Darfur, according to last week’s Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) hunger report. The region is home to 500,000-800,000 people displaced by violent conflict. Across Sudan, more than 26 million people need humanitarian food assistance, and a recent assessment by Mercy Corps in Central and South Darfur found that 9 out of 10 children are suffering from life-threatening malnutrition. Mercy Corps teams have provided families across Sudan with cash assistance, seeds, fresh food vouchers, and support for smallholder farmers.

We will continue to provide updates about conditions on the ground and our emergency response in Gaza, Sudan, and other crisis zones in the weeks and months ahead. Donations from the Mercy Corps community enable our teams and partners to bring vital aid where it’s needed most. You can help fuel our global humanitarian response by making your first donation of $25 or whatever you can afford during this moment of extraordinary need. Sincerely, The Mercy Corps team |
