Hi John,

Great news! As of August 2024, Wisconsin is the first state in the country to launch the Home Efficiency (HOMES) portion of the Home Energy Rebate Program. That means it’s now easier and more affordable to improve your home’s energy efficiency!

I served as moderator for the launch announcement last Friday that included a panel with Gov. Tony Evers , Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm , Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy John Podesta , and Public Service Commission Chair Summer Strand . Now, it’s time for you to take advantage of this first-ever opportunity!

The launch of this program is a first for the nation. Energy efficiency upgrades are a huge step towards better quality of life for households across Wisconsin and can reduce pollution inside the home, improving health.

There are two rebate programs. Here's what you need to know:

Home Efficiency Rebates (HOMES) - Available now!
Rebates between $1,500 and $10,000 for whole-home energy saving upgrades, such as insulation, efficient heating/cooling systems, and more.
Rebate amount depends on income, whether you live in a single- or multi-family home, and predicted energy savings
While renters are not eligible to receive a HOMES rebate, you can encourage your landlord or building owner to participate in the program.
Requires a home energy assessment (low-income households can get up to a $500 instant discount to cover the cost of the assessment)

Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) - Coming soon!
Rebates for low- and moderate-income households to install heat pumps and other electrification projects that will make your home more energy efficient
Renters must receive approval from landlord or building owner to participate in the HEAR program
Home energy assessment is not required in most cases, but is a helpful first step to determine optimal electrification purchase

Benefits of upgrading your home:
💵 Reduce your energy bill
🏠 Increase your home's comfort
💲Improve your home's value
🌎 Shrink your carbon footprint and help the environment

Get back to the basics and learn the difference between tax credits and rebates.
Go to energy.gov/save for more information on the above, general energy-saving tips, and even directions for getting tax credits on new/old electric vehicles.

I was honored to help launch this landmark program in Wisconsin and for the country. Now, it’s time for you to explore what benefits you can take advantage of, help save the planet, and save some hard-earned money.

Thanks for being a conservation voter,
