Friend,

In 1958, I immigrated to this country as a student to pursue my dream of getting my education. Several degrees later, I decided to run for New York City Council because I saw the lack of support immigrants had in my district and all across Brooklyn. And when I won, I became the first Carribean-born woman elected to the city council.

When my term was up and my daughter ran to succeed me, I knew she would live up to and go beyond my legacy fighting for Brooklyn. And that’s exactly what she did in 2006 when she was elected to represent Brooklyn in Congress.

And ever since, she’s been a tireless advocate for Brooklyn: fighting the far-right at every turn to protect our immigrant communities and being a dedicated leader to her constituents. But they have a new policy in mind: mass deportations .

As an immigrant myself I know how dangerous language like that can be, and to have it echoed by a man running for President is shameful. And we can’t let Trump back in the White House.

I taught my daughter lessons of equal access and public service, and now Yvette is rising to the challenge and taking the fight to the extremists in Congress – and she needs your help. Will you consider donating to my daughter’s campaign so she can keep up the good work she’s doing for Brooklyn in Congress? [[link removed]]
