U.S. Senate passes bipartisan bill to create 63 new federal judgeships
* The Senate unanimously passed ([link removed]) a bill to create over 60 new district court judgeships across the country to help ease overloaded dockets. The bipartisan bill now heads to the House.
* Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), a co-sponsor of the bill, said, “Delaware has some of America's most overworked federal judges — and for nearly 14 years, I’ve been trying to get them help.” He added, “we’re a step closer to that goal” now that the legislation passed the Senate.

Another lawsuit filed against Biden’s voting rights executive order
* Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft (R) filed ([link removed]) a lawsuit Wednesday challenging President Joe Biden’s 2021 executive order promoting voter registration.
* This is not the first case brought this year against this executive order. Victory for voters in Wisconsin
* In a win for voters, a Wisconsin judge rejected ([link removed]) the GOP Legislature's request to block a ruling that allows voters with disabilities to request and receive accessible absentee ballots via email. The pro-voting ruling will remain in effect.

The latest on a Mississippi redistricting case
* The trial starts on Monday in a lawsuit that challenged ([link removed]) Mississippi's decades-old electoral map for the state Supreme Court. Voters argue that the districts dilute the voting power of Black Mississippians in a state where they comprise 40% of the population.

Update on Pennsylvania misdated and undated mail-in ballot case
* A Pennsylvania court held ([link removed]) a hearing today in a challenge to a state election law that disqualifies mail-in ballots with incorrect or missing dates on the outer envelope. Pro-voting groups argue the law violates the state constitution.
* Pro-voting groups allege that this law has led to the disqualification ([link removed]) of over 10,000 mail-in ballots since the 2022 election. The results of the case will have major implications for the election this fall.
