ICYMI: Free the Tamales!






Giving people more choice is also important when it comes to the food that
they eat.

‌

Until recently, it was illegal in Arizona to sell home-cooked food. This had a
significant impact on the Hispanic community, where sharing tamales was not
just a tradition but a vital part of their livelihood and culture. Despite
this, outdated food safety regulations made it illegal.

‌

Despite the Arizona legislature overwhelmingly passing the Cottage Food Bill,
Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed it, sparking a viral campaign led by AFP and The LIBRE
Initiative, creating the hashtag #FreeTheTamales.

‌
