“It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment... Reconnecting with Nary affirmed why I want to be part of the work of justice.”
Nary was trafficked to a brothel at the age of six and freed two years later through one of IJM’s first rescues in 2003. In Bolivia, 1 in 2 women experience physical or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime. And yet, between 2007-2016 only 7% of cases reached a verdict in court. In 2023, PROBOS, an interdisciplinary group trained by IJM achieved an outstanding 40 sentences. Through PROBOS, IJM continues to work tirelessly to achieve justice and empower survivors of violence.
