** Bringing the Olympics home
------------------------------------------------------------

It’s official, the Winter Games are coming back to the Beehive State! This week, Salt Lake City, Utah, was awarded the host contract for the 2034 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. We joined the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall and Olympic Athletes in Paris to make our final pitch to the International Olympic Committee and sign the paperwork to officially bring the Games back to Utah.

Back at home, thousands of Utahns gathered at Washington Square Park at 2:30 in the morning to watch our pitch live and celebrate – the energy was electric! We are grateful for the work of the Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games and the elected officials who have given their support, but it wouldn’t be possible without the support of Utahns. More than 80% of Utahns and 100% of our elected leaders supported our Olympic bid.

The Olympics and Paralympics represent so much more than competition. At its core, the Olympic Movement is about building community and celebrating excellence, things we do really well in Utah. We're ready to host another Olympic Winter Games, and we can't wait to welcome the world back to Utah in 2034. Let’s go!

** Happy Pioneer Day, Utah!
------------------------------------------------------------

Utah is a special place and our founders were correct when they declared “This is the place.” We are proud everyday, but especially July 24, of our state’s rich history of courage, faith, and community created by those that came before. Whether you have been here for generations or just a few weeks, we hope you celebrated!

** Connecting Utah’s transportation past and future
------------------------------------------------------------

Utahns love to walk, run, bike, scooter, skate and use other low-impact ways to experience the great outdoors, and the new Utah Trail Network will allow Utahns of all ages and abilities to visit any city or town in the state without a car. Last year, we worked with the Utah Legislature to create a fund specifically for this active transportation effort. And this year, the Utah Transportation Commission approved funding to build 19 new paved trails and fill in trail gaps across the state. As our state grows, we want to give people multiple travel options so that they can choose their own adventure and get from point A to point B in a way that’s safe, convenient and accessible.
