News and Dates that you need to know! July 2024   “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!” What an exciting week for us all! The Republican National Convention convened in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Bexar County had several delegates and alternates attend. I wish to thank these patriots and to all who attended at their own expense representing the great state of Texas! Each night had a different theme: Make America Wealthy Once Again, Make America Safe Once Again, Make America Strong Once Again and Make America Great Once Again. Each themed night presented great speakers that to resonated and shared the party’s core values and goals. Seeing those waving cowboy hats, and Texas shirts made us all so proud. Senator JD Vance of Ohio accepted the nomination for Vice President on Wednesday, July 17th and Donald Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination for President on the final day of the Convention, Thursday, July 18th. This was such a significant and historic event, and it was marked by special moments. Here are a few highlights of President Trump’s speech: 1. Unity and Healing- President Trump spotlighted the need to heal the discord and division in America. My favorite quote of the night “…I am running to be President for all of America not half of America because there is no victory in winning half of America…” 2. Response to the Assassination Attempt-This was President Trump’s first appearance since surviving an assassination attempt. What a complete failure for the Secret Service, but President Trump complimented and thanked them for their bravery. He then paid tribute to Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who was fatally shot in the assassination attempt, by kissing his fireman's helmet. This compelling story was an inspiration and solidified him as a resilient and brave leader to the entire world. It also reinforced his determination to continue fighting for his vision of America. 3. Economic Agenda-President Trump reiterated his economic agenda and policies, including proposed tax cuts and tariffs on foreign goods and strengthening the prosperity middle class. He positioned himself as a champion of speedy economic growth and stability. 4. Immigration-President Trump reassured Americans he would close the borders, send criminals back to their homelands and continue to finish building the wall! The 2024 Republican National Convention featured a numerous variety of notable speakers. (There really were too many to list them all) Here are some of the standout speakers: 1. Families of the Fallen Heroes- The Conventioned honored the 13 soldiers killed at Abbey Gate, at the Kabul Airport, and the entire body repeated each of their names. WE WILL NEVER FORGET! 2. JD Vance- JD Vance-The Senator from Ohio who proudly accepted the nomination to become the Vice President of the Unites States, spoke of his humble beginnings and the reality of the American dream. He spoke about his family and the working class families of America 3. Nikki Haley-The former U.N. Ambassador and a candidate in the GOP Primaries, she made a significant impact with her speech emphasizing unity and released her delegates to vote for President Trump. 4. Governor Ron De Santis-The former presidential candidate focused on issues like crime, border security and the opioid epidemic and how President Trump would help resolve each of these issues. 5. Lara Trump-As a daughter-in-law to President Trump and now Chair of the Republican National Committee, Lara took to the stage and added a distinctive touch to the convention. (By the way, so did Kai Trump, the oldest granddaughter of Mr. Trump.) 6. Let's not forget the more influential but non-traditional speakers and social media influencer Amber Rose, wrestling star Hulk Hogan and rock star Kid Rock, country star Jason Aldean. We cannot forget to thank Lee Greenwood for inspirational “Proud to Be An American”. Our amazing Texas speakers brought a range of perspectives and issues to the convention, reflecting the diverse concerns of Texans. The speakers included: 1. Senator Ted Cruz-Our own Texas Senator was one of Mr. Trump’s most vocal allies, delivering an enthusiastic speech regarding violence because of undocumented criminals. He asked the question, “How did we get here? It happened because Democrats cynically decided they wanted votes from illegals more that they wanted to protect our children.” It was powerful and Senator Cruz and other allies will help President Trump fix this issue. 2. Congressman Ronny Jackson-The Congressman highlighted national Security issues and President Trump's continued support for the military. 3. Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz-This fabulous Congresswoman addressed issues related to the Hispanic community and economic opportunities. 4. Congressman Wesley Hunt-The Houston Congressman addressed the major problem of inflation effecting all American families. Many of whom are struggling to purchase every day items. He reinforced that President Trump understands and will attack inflation. 5. Governor Greg Abbott-Our amazing Governor strongly criticized the Biden administration’s border policies, emphasizing the need for stricter measures. Reiterating the potential success of Operation Lone Star which aims to secure the border. He also discussed the economic impact of a secure border. All the above speeches and their themes painted a picture of a state party focused on unity, resilience and addressing key issues facing our state and nation. Governor Greg Abbott gave Bexar County Republicans a shout out from the National Convention! GET OUT TO VOTE! AND VOTE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TICKET! Paint Bexar County Red!! A huge thank you to Governor Abbott for the shout-out to Bexar County Republicans and to all of our Speakers, Delegates, Alternates and Guests. We appreciate you representing us at this historical convention. GOD BLESS TEXAS and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
