“FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!”
What an exciting week for us all! The Republican National Convention convened in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Bexar County had several delegates and alternates attend. I wish to thank these patriots and to all who attended at their own expense representing the great state of Texas! Each night had a different theme: Make America Wealthy Once Again, Make America Safe Once Again, Make America Strong Once Again and Make America Great Once Again.
Each themed night presented great speakers that to resonated and shared the party’s core values and goals. Seeing those waving cowboy hats, and Texas shirts made us all so proud. Senator JD Vance of Ohio accepted the nomination for Vice President on Wednesday, July 17th and Donald Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination for President on the final day of the Convention, Thursday, July 18th.
This was such a significant and historic event, and it was marked by special moments. Here are a few highlights of President Trump’s speech:
1. Unity and Healing- President Trump spotlighted the need to heal the discord and division in America. My favorite quote of the night “…I am running to be President for all of America not half of America because there is no victory in winning half of America…”
2. Response to the Assassination Attempt-This was President Trump’s first appearance since surviving an assassination attempt. What a complete failure for the Secret Service, but President Trump complimented and thanked them for their bravery. He then paid tribute to Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who was fatally shot in the assassination attempt, by kissing his fireman's helmet. This compelling story was an inspiration and solidified him as a resilient and brave leader to the entire world. It also reinforced his determination to continue fighting for his vision of America.
3. Economic Agenda-President Trump reiterated his economic agenda and policies, including proposed tax cuts and tariffs on foreign goods and strengthening the prosperity middle class. He positioned himself as a champion of speedy economic growth and stability.
4. Immigration-President Trump reassured Americans he would close the borders, send criminals back to their homelands and continue to finish building the wall!
