Hello!

This Earth Day, we remember the destruction of the Deepwater Horizon oil
spill 10 years ago while oil futures trading
<[link removed]> went
negative. With prices negative, it won't be long before there are calls
from capital to bail out oil, or we risk the glut of supply to be unsafely
unloaded to bring prices down.

Now is the time to push for a Green New Deal, and with so many out of work
and in need of relief while the companies that put us in the most
environmental harm reach out their hand this push needs to be deeply
connected to the fights of frontline essential workers, just as Earth Day
to May Day
<[link removed]>organizers
across the country are doing. As energy companies collapse we can push
for nationalizing
the energy grid
<[link removed]>
as a first step toward putting people in control of our economy, not
extraction industries.

EXHIBIT HALL AUTHORITY OFFERS CRUMBS

As part of our work with the GNO Coalition for a Fair Fund for Hospitality
Workers, The pressure we've been putting on the Exhibit Hall Authority to
provide $100 million was met with a weak offer to donate only $1 million in
the form of $500k to United Way and $500k to GNOF to support relief
efforts. For the roughly 100,000 workers in the tourism and service
industries, that’s about $10 per worker and only .05% of their funds!

We need to demand $100 million! The Exhibit Hall Authority is meeting
Tonight, April 22, at 4 pm

DSA New Orleans is calling on members in the service and tourism industry
