This Disability Pride Month, we are honored to celebrate the diverse experiences and identities of LGBTQ+ young people with disabilities. Our recent 2024 National Survey ([link removed](i.e.e-newsletter)&utm_source=emailsegment-wholefile1&utm_campaign=generaleffort) on the Mental Health of LGBTQ+ Young People offers profound insights into their lives and underscores the importance of support and inclusivity.
** Key Findings From Our 2024 Survey:
------------------------------------------------------------
* Nearly one-third (29%) of LGBTQ+ young people identified as having a disability, highlighting the intersection of identities within our community.
* Mental health challenges are more pronounced among these individuals:
+ 60% reported experiencing recent depression.
+ 75% experienced recent anxiety.
+ 48% seriously considered suicide in the past year, with 19% having attempted it.
* Alarmingly, 65% felt discriminated against due to their disability, leading to higher rates of mental health struggles and suicidality.
Despite these challenges, there is hope and a path forward. Our survey also revealed that nearly two-thirds of LGBTQ+ young people with disabilities felt understood by their therapist, which was associated with significantly lower rates of suicide attempts.
