Was it merely a coincidence that just days before Justice Thomas, in his concurrence in the January 6th presidential immunity case, questioned Smith’s legitimacy? For his part Alito has ruled on cases related to January 6 while being transparent with his views on Stop the Steal and the legitimacy of the 2020 election by literally flying flags at both his properties advertising his support. It is also well known that Thomas and his wife Ginni enjoyed the spoils of the job – to the tune of $4.2 million in gifts and prizes.
