Hey John,
My name is Edwin and I am a community organizer in Uganda working closely
with 350.org. I was born and raised here in Uganda, and have witnessed
first-hand the severe impacts of fossil fuel extraction and climate change
on vulnerable communities.
And right now, French oil giant TotalEnergies is preparing to build the
world's largest heated crude oil pipeline right through the heart of
Africa. The potential threat the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)
poses to my community is unimaginable. Ecosystems will be destroyed,
communities will be displaced, and climate disasters will only get worse.
Not just here in Africa, but around the world.
But it is not enough to simply stop EACOP... we need to rapidly transition
to renewable energy.
That is why I am proud that on 350.org's first-ever Giving Day, we are
launching the REPower Afrika campaign to switch off fossil fuels and turn
on renewable energy:
[ [link removed] ]Your donation today will help transform
the lives of the people in my community and climate activists all over the
planet. Chip in any amount today to support 350.org's Giving Day so we can
launch the REPower Afrika campaign — your donation will be TRIPLE MATCHED.
Together, we can take the power out of the hands of fossil fuel companies
and put it into the hands of communities impacted by the climate crisis.

Instead of unreliable energy powered by fossil fuels, renewable energy
means energy my community can actually count on.
* Renewable energy allows children to study after dark, healthcare
facilities to operate efficiently, and households to access
technology.

* It reduces indoor air pollution, improving health outcomes and
reducing respiratory issues.

* It enhances community resilience, supporting essential services and
strengthening local infrastructure. Schools, healthcare centers, and
businesses benefit from reliable power.

* It improves educational resources, raising awareness about renewable
energy and climate change, and fostering a culture of sustainability.

* It provides economic independence by training individuals, especially
women, in solar system installation and maintenance, leading to job
opportunities and entrepreneurship. For women, it breaks traditional
barriers, promoting gender equality and economic development.

The REPower Afrika initiative profoundly impacts the people I meet through
my work, bringing hope and inspiration, demonstrating that positive change
is possible and empowering communities to shape their futures.
But this campaign will not be possible without the support of people like
you, John:
[ [link removed] ]So please, make a 3X MATCHED donation
today so we can create climate resilience within my community, building
environmental stewardship, and creating hope for a sustainable future.
Thank you for pitching in today. In the coming days, I'll be sharing more
about my work within the REPower Afrika campaign and how your support can
help transform the lives of the people in my community.
In solidarity,
Edwin on behalf of the REPower Afrika activists
