Generosity in action.
Friend, thanks
to our generous supporters, the Alzheimer's Association has made
incredible progress as we work to advance critical research, provide
care and support and advocate to make the fight against Alzheimer's disease
a national priority. As you'll see below, our community is making a
real difference in the lives of the millions impacted by Alzheimer's
and all other dementia.
Care and Support
The generous support of our community
brings help and hope to everyone impacted by Alzheimer's today.
Over 200,000 calls and online
chats were received by the 24/7 Helpline in 2023.
444 active Association volunteers
have delivered 49,760 programs to help those in their community who
have been impacted by Alzheimer's. When equated to hours served, that
equals 149,280 hours - or $4.7 million in contributed support.
We have 3,119 unique support
groups across the country that hold monthly meetings both in-person
and virtually. This year, our support groups served more than 52,000
people across the country to give those living with Alzheimer's and
their loved ones access to care and support.
Research
Our donors' support enables us to
drive promising research toward new treatments and, one day, a cure.
$405 million is currently being
invested in over 1,100 active projects in 56 countries, spanning six
continents.
Over 9,700 people have registered
to join top researchers at the 2024 Alzheimer's Association
International Conference® (AAIC®) to share critical updates
and exciting discoveries.
2,000 people enrolled in the
Association-led U.S. POINTER study that will help us better understand
the relationship between lifestyle intervention and dementia risk.
Advocacy
Donations from our community help us
advocate for public policies to increase research funding and support
all those affected.
Advocacy by the Alzheimer's
Association has increased the federal funding for Alzheimer's and
dementia research to as much as $3.8 billion annually - a more
than seven-fold increase in the last decade.
Advocates used digital platforms
to make over 115,000 connections with lawmakers regarding public
policy issues.
The Association held more than 400
events with members of Congress, including the State Dementia Services
Coordinator (DSC) Summit in Washington, D.C.

with the most light - the summer solstice. Each year on a day
that works for them, participants raise funds through an activity of
their choice including sports tournaments, card games, baking and more
to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's and all other dementia. To learn
how you can start your own fundraiser, visit alz.org/TLD.
